1. What
size space do I need to hang my hammock?
As a general rule,
the minimum hanging distance is about 20cm less
than the overall length of the hammock (from
loop to loop). This length is shown in the diagrams
next to each hammock. This length is useful
when selecting your stand, or selecting a hammock
stand for a hammock that you purchased elsewhere.
The maximum hanging
length can be as long as you like (if you have
some long ropes. But for stability, we would
only recommend up to 2.5m from the end of the
hammock to the point where the rope is attached
to something solid.
2. Where is

3. Will my
hammock be okay if it gets left outside?
The first thing we
did in August 2004 when we started HammockHeaven
was to set up a hammock in the garden. This
is a standard cotton hammock (lambada). It has
been outside , unprotected day and night for
a year now. The colours look a little faded,
but nothing is rotting, and I think it would
look new if we chucked it in the washing machine.
Having said that,
it will eventally decay. If you want your hammock
to last for ever, I would recommend one of the
weatherproof
hammocks (such as the banana hammock), or
that you purchase a hammock sock which simply
slides over the hammock in one movement to protect
your hammock from the elements.
4. Will the
hammocks and hammock stand take my weight? The
weight limits look a little low...
The testing is done
by dropping these weights from a height on to
the hammocks, and then building in a large margin
of error. Although we can not recommend that
you overload your hammock, they are very strong
and we have had four adults chilling in the
family sizes hammock on an Atlas stand before
with no sign of a problem.
5. Will the hammock stand be okay if it is left outside ?
Yes, This is what they are designed for. We recommend that you treat them with a wood treatment product after about a year (ask at your local DIY centre) which one.
6. I dont want to wait in for delivery can you give me an exact delivery time?
No , we can't give you an exact time, however, If you do not want to wait in for a delivery, then you can leave a note on your front door with instructions for the courier to leave the package somewhere safe (or with a neighbour). We are not responsible for the loss of any packages should you choose to do this.
7. Should I take a Hammockwith Spreader bars or a traditional Brazillian style hammock?
In two words - personal preference. The ones with Spreader bars are easier to get in to (but also easier to get tipped out of). They will dry quijker should they get wet, and maybe they look nicer. The ones without spreader bars are arguably more comfortable (this is the style people have been sleeping in for eons). You can also use a hammock sock with the brazilllian style hammocks, so it is easy to protect them from the weather. |
